The agency ad account market has grown fast, and so has the number of providers. Some are long-standing, well-run partners. Others disappear with clients’ balances, or hand out accounts that were never set up properly. Because you’ll be trusting a provider with your advertising budget, choosing well matters as much as your campaign strategy.
Before you top up a single dollar, ask these ten questions. A good provider will answer all of them clearly and in writing. If you’re new to the topic, start with our complete guide to buying advertising accounts in the USA.
1. What is your relationship with the ad platforms?
Ask how the provider sources its accounts. Is it a recognised agency or reseller partner of Meta, TikTok, Google, Snapchat or Microsoft, or does it work through another partner? A trustworthy provider explains its partner structure openly and can tell you which business entity your account sits under.
Red flag: vague answers, or accounts described as coming from unknown or unexplained sources.
2. Who controls the account, and what happens to my data if I leave?
Your pixels, tags, catalogs and customer audiences are business assets. Ask whether you can use your own pixel, whether audiences can be shared back to your own Business Manager, and how access is handed over if you move on. You should never lose your tracking history because you changed provider.
3. What exactly are the fees?
Get every cost in writing:
- Account opening fee
- Service fee (usually a percentage of each top-up)
- Currency conversion or payment processing fees
- Any monthly minimum or inactivity fee
Compare providers on the total cost at your expected monthly spend, not on headline offers alone. A provider with a free opening fee but a high service fee can cost far more over a year.
4. How do top-ups work, and how fast are they?
If a campaign is scaling on a Friday night, a top-up that takes two days costs you sales. Ask which payment methods are accepted, how quickly funds reach your ad account, and whether top-ups are processed outside business hours and at weekends.
5. What is your refund policy for unused balances?
This is the question many advertisers forget. Ask how unused balances are refunded if you stop advertising or an account is closed, how long refunds take, and whether any fees are deducted. Then read the written policy. At Blue Focus, our refund policy is published on the site.
6. How long does account setup take?
Providers quote anything from a few hours to several days. Ask for a realistic timeframe and what information they need from you (website, business details, target countries, campaign types) so there are no surprises when you’re ready to launch.
7. What support do you provide, and through which channels?
Good support is often the single biggest reason to use an agency account. Find out:
- Response times during and outside business hours
- Channels: live chat, Telegram, WhatsApp, email or a ticket system
- Whether support can help with ad disapprovals and policy questions
- Whether the provider can escalate issues to the platforms through partner channels
8. What happens if my account is restricted?
No honest provider can promise that an account will never be restricted, because every platform reviews ads against its own policies, whatever account they run in. What you want to know is the process: how they help you understand the reason, whether they assist with review requests, and how your remaining balance is handled.
Red flag: any provider that guarantees “no bans” or “unlimited” spend regardless of what you advertise. Those promises don’t reflect how platforms work.
9. Which industries and ad categories do you accept?
A professional provider checks that your business fits each platform’s policies before opening an account. This protects you as well: it’s better to learn upfront that a category is restricted than after you’ve funded an account. Our ad account health checklist explains what platforms look for.
10. Can you show a track record?
Ask how long the provider has operated, how many clients it serves, and whether it can share genuine testimonials or references. Check its terms and conditions, privacy policy and company details. Consistent, verifiable information is a good sign.

Questions to ask about each platform
Requirements differ by platform, so ask platform-specific questions too:
- Meta: starting spend limits and how Business Manager access works. See Facebook agency accounts vs personal accounts and our Facebook agency ad account page.
- TikTok: which target countries are supported. See our TikTok agency account page.
- Google: whether you can link your own Merchant Center. See our Google Ads agency account page.

Frequently asked questions
Is it better to use one provider for all platforms? Often, yes. One wallet and one support team make billing and reporting simpler across Meta, TikTok, Google, Snapchat and Bing.
What should I do before my first top-up? Read the provider’s terms and refund policy, confirm all fees in writing, and start with a small top-up to test the process.
How do I compare two providers fairly? Calculate the total yearly cost at your expected spend, then compare support response times and refund terms.
